New Zealand's Corey Anderson hits the fastest century ever

Corey Anderson
It's just a matter of time but records are meant to be broken.. New Zealand's rising star, Corey Anderson launched the New Year with a sparking ton off just 36 balls against West Indies the other day here in Queenstown.

The 23-year-old player from Northern Districts bettered the record of Pakistani All-rounder Shahid Afridi who had kept the pride for 17 years after he had hit his ton off 37 balls against Sri Lanka in Nairobi.

"I didn't have a clue actually. It's not that I'd look it up and try and take it down. But it's nice to have it," The left-hander said.

In this the scarcely believable knock, Anderson sent the ball twenty times to the fence! Out of which 14 were those giant sixes he did swung his bat on.

In the same match, there was a competition for spectators, wearing orange t-shirts, to bag $100,000 for taking one-handed catches. With so many sixes on all sides of ground, the crowd got plenty of chances, but none of the spectators could win the jackpot.

Irrespective of the format, the stadium of Queenstown witnessed the fastest ever international century. But the fact is every record is bettered with the passage if time.. and so will this be…
